The Executive Chairman of Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, EGCDF, has appealed to Delta State government to take over cottage hospitals at Oporoza and Tsekelewu in Warri South West and Warri North Local Government Areas of the state.
Ukori, who spoke during a familiarization tour/town hall meeting at Opia, Adagbarasa, Opuama and Polobubor (Tsekelewu) communities in Warri North Local Government Area, said the appeal became necessary because of the dearth of health facilities in the area.
According to him, if the state government and other interventionist agencies could run the two cottage hospitals, the move will address the health challenges in the area.
He explained that the cottage hospitals were built by EGCF through the sponsorship of Chevron Nigeria Limited years ago and have not functioned since after their completion due to lack of personnel and facilities.
Ukori stated that the Foundation would promote sustainable development of the communities under its jurisdiction..
